The published weighting

The percentages are Red Seal's own. The question counts beside them are ours — read the note under the table.

Why those counts carry a ≈

Red Seal publishes a percentage per activity and a total. It does not publish a question count per activity — not for this trade, not for any trade. So the counts above are our own arithmetic: each percentage applied to 120 questions, with the rounding leftovers assigned by largest remainder. They are a good guide and they are not official. Any page giving you an exact per-topic count without saying this made it up.

What kind of questions

Red Seal also publishes the mix of question types. Every question has four options, A to D, and one credited answer.

How our bank lines up

Our own coverage of each activity, for comparison. These are questions we hold — not questions on the exam.

3,397 of our active 310B questions are mapped to these activities, every one with a written explanation, in English and Arabic.

Questions people ask about the 310B blueprint

120. Red Seal publishes that figure on the exam-weightings page linked below. Each question has four options and only one is credited.

No. It publishes a percentage for each Major Work Activity and a total for the exam, and nothing more granular. Counts per topic — including ours — are always somebody's arithmetic on those percentages.

It is what red-seal.ca publishes today, read on 2026-08-29. The source page is linked below so you can check it against this one rather than taking our word for it. Any page giving a different total does not match the current source.

Weight is a reasonable starting point — the heaviest activities carry the most marks. But your own weakest areas matter more, which is what a diagnostic is for.

Yes. The Interprovincial Red Seal examination is common across Canada — same standard, same weighting, same paper. What differs by province is the certification path to sitting it.

No, and nobody honestly has them. Our questions are written to the same standard and the same weighting, which is what makes practice transfer. The official Red Seal sample questions are deliberately excluded from everything we publish.
